MLB 12 The Show will also showcase the Blue Jays’ brand new 2012 uniforms.“Being named the cover athlete for the Canadian edition of MLB 12 The Show is an exciting honour for me,” said Jose Bautista, American League Home Run Champion. “This is hands-down the best baseball game out there, which makes my inclusion as both cover athlete and an ambassador a very special one.”In his breakout 2010 season, Bautista led the Major Leagues and set a Blue Jays record with 54 home runs, surpassing the 47 hit by George Bell in 1987, while also finishing first in extra-base hits (92) and T-1st in total bases (351). With continued career highs being set in many offensive categories, Bautista became the fourth player in history to record at least 35 doubles, 50 home runs, and 100 walks in the same season, becoming just the sixteenth player in history to hit 54 or more home runs in a season. In 2011 he impressed at the plate once again being named AL Player of the Month in April and May, an award he won twice in 2010 (August and September). Bautista received an all-time record 7.5 million All-Star votes in 2011, won his second consecutive AL Silver Slugger Award, and also for the second straight year won the 2011 Hank Aaron Award as the most outstanding offensive performer in the American League.
