Some lucky PS3 owners are currently enjoying the PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale beta, and some of those same people have snooping around the beta’s game data, possibly revealing all the characters, stages and items included within the game.

The information seems to come from GameFAQs users in this thread. The leak reveals the already announced characters along with many unannounced ones, as well as some stages, items and NPCs.

First up, the characters:

  • Big Daddy(BioShock)
  • Colonel Radec (Killzone)
  • Dante (DMC)
  • Evil Cole (Infamous)
  • Fat Princess (Fat Princess)
  • Good Cole (Infamous)
  • Heihachi (Tekken)
  • Jak & Daxter (Jak & Daxter)
  • Kratos (God of War)
  • Nariko (Heavenly Sword)
  • Nathan Drake (Uncharted)
  • Parappa the Rapper (Parappa the Rapper)
  • Raiden (Metal Gear Solid)
  • Ratchet (& Clank?) (Ratchet & Clank)
  • Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet)
  • Sir Daniel Fortesque (MediEvil)
  • Sly Cooper (Sly Cooper)
  • Spike (Ape Escape)
  • Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal)
  • Toro (Sony Icon)

Allegedly some of these characters are marked as ‘unlockable’; hopefully these means unlockable within game and not on-disc DLC. Although nothing is confirmed by Sony, these characters do appear as if they could be legit.

Leaked also are the games’ stages:

  • Alden’s Tower (Infamous)
  • Black Rock Stadium (Twisted Metal)
  • Columbia (BioShock Infinite)
  • Dojo (Parappa the Rapper)
  • Dreamscape (LittleBigPlanet)
  • Franzea (LocoRoco)
  • Hades (God of War)
  • Invasion (Killzone)
  • Metropolis (Ratchet & Clank)
  • Paris (Sly Cooper)
  • Sandover (Jak & Daxter)
  • San Francisco (Resistance)
  • Stowaways (Uncharted)
  • Time Station (Ape Escape)

As well as its items (good to see Resistance represented at least a little bit here):

  • Atomizer (Resistance 3)
  • Baumusu Axe (The Mark of Kri)
  • Boots of Hermes (God of War III)
  • Dohvat Laser Designator (Killzone 3)
  • Freeze Missile (Twisted Metal)
  • Golf Club (Hot Shots Golf)
  • Gravity Shield (WipeOut)
  • Hedgehog Grenade (Resistance)
  • Leech Beem (WipeOut)
  • Murder of Crows (BioShock Infinite)
  • Railgun (Metal Gear Solid 4)
  • Razor Claws (Ratchet & Clank)
  • RPG (Uncharted)
  • Scythe (Fat Princess)
  • Sonic Rift (ModNation Racers)
  • Spear (God of War)

Also revealed are the games’ ‘Minions’, presumably NPCs that also feature alongside playable characters:

  • Athena (God of War)
  • Captain Qwark (Ratchet & Clank)
  • Dollface (Twisted Metal)
  • Helghast (Killzone)
  • Kai (Heavenly Sword)
  • Kat (DMC)
  • Keira (Jak & Daxter)
  • Kiya (MediEvil)
  • Kuma (Tekken)
  • Little Sister (BioShock)
  • Monkey (Ape Escape)
  • Murray (Sly Cooper)
  • Nix (Infamous 2)
  • Pierre (Doko Demo Issho)
  • PJ Berri (Parappa the Rapper)
  • Sackbot (LittleBigPlanet 2)
  • Sam (Metal Gear Rising)
  • Sully (Uncharted)
  • Worker (Fat Princess)
  • Zeke (Infamous)

Finally, a list of rumoured game modes has also been leaked, with some seeming kind of odd:

  • Arcade Mode
  • Capture the Flag
  • Challenge Trials
  • Character Trials
  • Countdown Attack
  • Free Roam
  • General Trials
  • King of the Hill
  • LAN Game
  • Solo Play
Capture the Flag, King of the Hill and Free Roam seem a bit out of place. Let’s assume ‘Free Roam’ is actually just a training/practise mode which usually features in fighting games instead of some sort of open world gameplay that it would imply, but that still leaves Capture the Flag and King of the Hill, both of which don’t usually feature in 2D fighting games.

Sony have commented that they ‘don’t comment on rumours or speculation’, but a lot of these sound as if they could be legit and we’ve seen leaked information pulled from game data a few times in the past.

Nothing against the game, but as I have no attachment to these (really, any) sony characters (due to the fact that i’ve only every owned a psp for a year) i’m not hyped for this like I would be for super smash bros. still, why worry about hype when I don’t own the system, right?

Well, hope all the PS legacy peeps out there are happy. Now I won’t hear whining about FF so much (pipe dream, yeah?)

Although there are some third-party characters in the roster, Crash and Spyro haven’t been Sony-owned characters for a while, so they’re likely not included due to Sony not being able to (or not wanting to) acquire the rights or permission to include them.

Same goes for Final Fantasy. It’s as much down to the owners of the IP as it is Sony. Would be cool to hack people up with Cloud’s big ass sword though.

I suppose at this point it could really just be called ‘Recent Popular PS3 Characters’, since there’s no a whole there from PS1/2, yeah, haha.

yeah, they aren’t exactly in nintendo’s position of having all their most iconic characters being company-owned. it’s the cost of allowing others to play in your sandbox and make it cooler than you ever could all by yourself. imagine the profit splits on a game that had characters from 10 or 20 different IP owners. urgh.
